Beard League Business Meeting 8/28/2013

Upcoming Events:

·         BBQ Slip –n Slide 1-6 PM at the Black’s House. Balance is $198.25 they will call Maxx tomorrow or Friday and Travis is going to provide Maxx with the cash prior to the event.

·         Sunday the 1^st Wake –n Sun 11AM – 9PM at Rocket’s Landing. Travis and Jose will work the entire event since only two people can get in per booth.

·         Pub Night September 9^th Station 2

·         September 14^th at the Farmer’s Market Shockoe on the Half Shell more info to come.

·         September 18^th The Amazing Raise 5k ADA1 is password if you want to join the team. Pirate Theme and Arrr on Wheels. Benefits Art On Wheels

·         October 11-13^th Richmond Folk Festival need 8-10 people for 4-5 hours each

·         RVA Con still working on a getting a table Sept 27^th-29^th

·         Tattoo Festival won’t know until beginning of October for November event.

·         Quaker Steak bartending will try to be rescheduled hopefully for October

·         Country Grill on September 7^th and we have been asked to help put it on. Info is up on Facebook for anyone who can make it.

 

November Fun Event Possibilities:

·         Saturday Nov 2^nd River City Roller Girls 10 people + 8 bucks a person?

·         Stash Dash Nov 2^nd Style Weekly 5k moustache race, need ideas for activities.

·         November 30^th VA Historical Society Facial Hair Through History tour at Historical Museum private tour 2PM for $10pp

 

Recruiting and Fundraising:

·         VCU recruiting on campus Thursday the 12^th

·         Considering working with Alpha Phi Omega at VCU for volunteer events

·         Hardywood would like assistance in November for No Shave type events, fundraising, and work on making an RVA Beard Brew. We are going to ask Hardywood to choose Moustache for Kids. SCAN, Children’s Hospital, and one other children’s charity. Last year they raised 60k this year looking for over 100k

 

General:

·         Need to be better about getting the word out for events and fundraisers through all out available channels.

·         Beanies, patches, and sunglasses up for possible order.

·         We will start travel rules December.

·         Bi-laws for donations and sponsorship discussion will be discussed at a future meeting.

 

Our Competition Stuff:

·         Tickets go on sale on the September 1^st.

·         Canal Club is good to go and will add to their advertising.

·         New Categories: Full Beard is being split up into different lengths.

·         Doors at 4 and comp at 6 and there will not be an event downstairs this year during our event.

·         Station 2 for welcome party again on Friday night.

Committees:

·         New Volunteer committee is being headed up by Josh and Katie has already volunteered to help.

·         Fun committee is being headed up by Maxx.

o   Maxx will look into laser tag as our September event.
